Your account, your access

Already a customer? Sign in with your existing Paxton account when Claude asks you to connect. New to Paxton? Create an account and activate legal research access before connecting. Creating a login alone does not grant research access. For help choosing access, contact the Paxton team.

Connect

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors. Choose Paxton Legal Research if it is listed, or add a custom connector.
  2. For a custom connector, use https://paxton-mcp-connector-xmfvvq3waa-uc.a.run.app/mcp. Team or Enterprise administrators may need to add it for their workspace first.
  3. Choose Connect and sign in with your existing Paxton account. Each person authorizes their own connection. Sharing the connector URL does not grant access.
  4. Enable the connector for your conversation. Start with a jurisdiction and a specific research question.

Try a source-first research flow

Use Paxton to find Carpenter v. United States, 138 S. Ct. 2206 (2018). Retrieve the source text, show the passages supporting its holding, and give me clickable source links. Distinguish the holding from arguments and quoted authorities.

Then ask Claude to inspect that case's citation relationships and available status information. For administrative research, include an exact citation or agency identifier, such as EEOC Appeal No. 2021002641, and ask Claude to verify the returned title and identifier.

Available tools

The connector is read-only. It does not edit matters, upload documents, file pleadings, or grant access to other customers' files. Source links may ask you to sign in to Paxton separately. Research results and citation history require professional review; availability of a result does not establish that it is complete or current.

Read-only by design

The connector searches Paxton legal research sources, not private customer matter files. It cannot upload documents or change your data. Your research questions and returned authorities are exchanged between Claude and Paxton; avoid including unnecessary confidential facts in a query.

Data and support

Claude sends the arguments for tools you authorize to Paxton. Paxton processes those research requests using its hosted search services; statute and case-law searches use OpenAI for query embeddings. Legal-source results are returned to Claude. Firebase provides account authentication, and OAuth session records are kept in Firestore to support reconnects and token refresh. AWS services provide legal-source search, storage, and citation data.

See Paxton's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and the Paxton Help Center for support. Your use of Claude is also governed by your agreement and settings with Anthropic. To stop future requests, disconnect Paxton in Claude's connector settings.
